Bolt-Action Rifle Picatinny Mount Extender acts as an intermediate interface between your bolt-action rifle’s Picatinny rail and your thermal scope’s standard or tactical AR-style mount. It cantilevers the scope rearward, making it possible to maintain proper eye relief while providing enough height to avoid interference with bolt handle operation.
The Extender Is Offered in Two Sizes:
-
Medium Length: 5.7 inches long, 2.37-inch base, 14 Picatinny slots
-
Long Version: 9.7 inches long, 3.2-inch base, 24 Picatinny slots
⚠️ This extender is a structural solution that directly influences the accuracy and repeatability of the Point of Impact (POI). It must be rigid, stable, and mechanically sound under recoil, because even slight deformation, flexing, or movement of the extender causes a significant POI shift. Do not be tempted by cheap extenders that lack the essential features provided by Basic Precision:
-
Reinforced Cantilever Design
Integrated structural ribs ensure the rigidity of the cantilever section, preventing even slight flexing or movement in this area. -
High-Strength Material
Made from lightweight yet rigid 6061-T6 aluminum alloy. This properly heat-treated material prevents deformation, flexing, or movement under recoil. -
Properly Sized Hardware for Secure Lockup
Uses correctly sized mounting nuts, allowing the extender to be tightened to at least 30 foot-pounds of torque. This ensures rock-solid attachment to the rifle’s Picatinny rail and prevents recoil-induced movement. Undersized or tool-less hardware, commonly found on cheaper extenders, cannot be torqued sufficiently and may result in recoil-induced shifts.
Note: While long-action rifles often require the long extender, and short-action rifles are usually compatible with the medium-length version, this is not universal. Bolt handle shapes, Picatinny rail placements, and rifle stock designs vary. Before selecting the extender size, we strongly recommend measuring your rifle with calipers or a tape measure and referring to the dimensional image below to verify clearance and fitment.
